Welcome to Heritage Academy!
We are so excited about the start of the 2020-2021 school year! Our first day of classes will begin on Wednesday, July 29th through distance learning.
This letter is intended to give you most of the information that you will need to get ready for the upcoming school year. If you are moving or plan to attend a different school for the upcoming school year, please email the registrar to complete the withdraw paperwork: email@example.com
Office Closed: Wednesday July 22nd for Teacher Professional Development
Office Open: July 27th – August 18th – 9:00 AM-1:00 PM by appointment only. Please call the school office at 480-461-4400 to schedule an appointment.
Meet the Teacher Night: Staff welcome videos will be on our website. We will reschedule “Meet the Teacher Night” when we are able to meet in person again.
Course Requests & PowerSchool Logins: You may check your PowerSchool account to review your course requests for the upcoming school year. Your PowerSchool login information and instructions will be sent to you in a separate email on Monday, July 27. Be on the look out for that email. Your schedule will be available to print or view from PowerSchool at that time. How To Log In To Powerschool
Course Request Changes: changes to a scholar’s schedule may be possible on a limited basis:
- If a scholar has a documented medical condition that prevents them from participating in a class. For school record keeping purposes, it is preferred that a doctor’s note be provided.
- If a scholar was incorrectly scheduled for an academic class (e.g. Pre-algebra instead of geometry).
- If a teacher recommends that a specific schedule change be made for academic reasons.
Access to Google Classroom: All Heritage scholars have been assigned an email address to use to sign-in to Google Classroom. They will use their Student ID found on their PowerSchool Login for their unique email. Please follow the attached link for information on how to access your student email and other pertinent information regarding Google Classroom: Heritage Gateway Technology Resources
College Advising: Attention all high school dual enrollment scholars
Registration for your dual enrollment (de) courses will not be available until Monday, July 27th. I will be sending out instructions on how to register and pay for your classes, along with your course section numbers by the end of the week.
As a reminder for all Freshman and incoming high school scholars new to de courses, please make sure you have completed your admissions to Rio Salado College to ensure there are no holds or restrictions on your account so you can register next week. These include the following;
Step One: Apply to Rio Salado College
*If you experience issues uploading the documents, please email your documents to Maria Radostits firstname.lastname@example.org.
Step Three: Complete the Under 18/Financial Consent Form
If you have any questions please email email@example.com
Band/Orchestra rental: In an effort to assist parents with the beginning of this year, Milano Music, one of several vendors you can choose from, has put together some informational videos regarding rentals from their store in Mesa. Please note that when renting from Milano Music, you have several options including online rental with instrument delivery to Heritage Academy Gateway or even shipment to your home for your convenience.
Instrument Introduction Videos – Short, simple videos introducing each beginning band/orchestra instrument.
Rental Program Information – Videos explaining Milano Music’s rental program and how they clean/sanitize rental instruments.
Care Kit Introduction Videos – Videos going through what comes with the care kits for each instrument.
For more information about instrument rentals, you may call Milano’s directly at 480-827-1111.
BEGINNERS: Mr. Forbes will need to meet with scholars online to determine what instrument interest is versus what can be accommodated. For example, in a class of 30 scholars, usually 15 have an interest in playing drums, 10 in saxophone and 5 for the other dozen instruments that comprise a band. While we can probably make this work online, it would not make for an interesting concert once we return to campus. So, if your scholar is brand new to band or orchestra, please have them wait until after the first online class before committing to a rental. Mr. Forbes will then contact you with the information you need.
Lunch info: Once we are back on campus our lunches will be provided by My Hot Lunchbox. You will receive an invitation to create an account and select your meal options 2 weeks prior to the first “on campus” day of school. Scholars can also bring a lunch from home. My Hot Lunchbox Flyer
Uniforms: List of Uniform Vendors
Please review the dress code before you purchase uniforms for the upcoming year: Dress Code Standards
Please purchase your uniforms sooner rather than later. The turnaround time for uniform orders is longer the closer we get to the start of school. Waiting too long could run the risk of not having uniforms for the first day.
Elective Course Fees: Please keep in mind, our sports course fees are for the class, not the sport. All fees for fall semester (including winter sports) will be due once we are back on campus in-person. Payments are only made online. Our new payment system should be up and running by August 18th. At that time, you will receive instructions on how to make a payment. We DO NOT accept cash or checks. 2020-2021 Gateway Course Fees
Parking Pass Information: We will notify families when parking passes are available for purchase. We do not plan to do this until we are certain of a re-opening date.
