Heritage Academy is pleased to announce that Amanda Smith will be the new Assistant Principal at the Gateway campus, beginning June 2018.  Amanda has been with Heritage Academy Gateway from our beginning days in the portable units, as an English teacher, where she quickly established herself as a valuable asset to the school community. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts from James Madison University, where she majored in English and minored in Education, and has also completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Technology through Northern Arizona University.  Amanda excelled in all these programs, distinguishing herself through excellent academic performance and receiving recognition from her professors at all levels of her scholastic journey.  She has been teaching for 12 years and has served as head of the English Department for the last four years. During her tenure as English Chair, Amanda helped bring more technology to the English department, improved the curriculum by ensuring that Gateway was able to expand the dual enrollment program, and worked diligently to bring greater cohesion across all grade levels.  Amanda is excited to serve Heritage Academy-Gateway in her new position, (and is currently training and transitioning) where she will continue to improve the overall experience for all of our scholars.
